It was a revelation to me when I began to spend time getting close to God and studying the bible that through Jesus, everything was created. (Hebrews 1:2-3).
It was by God’s will that you and I were made. It is no accident!
You and I have been created, and formed, in the image of God. We have been gorgeously and expertly made for a close relationship and worship of our creator! (Genesis 1:26, Psalm 139:13-14). It is so easy to forget, that if we are living separately from God; we aren't functioning in our true purpose.
We live in a culture where it is commonplace to focus on personal success, dreams, self-love and the praise and worship of 'worthy' people.
Yet, when I take a moment to consider the reality that, the creator of the world loves me; chose to create me and places such high value on my life, that He chose to die on the cross for me; then suddenly, I realise that I have missed the true significance of my existence!
Even more so, I realise that I can become so busy with the delights, difficulties, and distractions of this life; I have little or no relationship with Him at all!
No wonder that despite the accumulation of enjoyment, achievement and possessions; so many of us seem to have this gaping hole in our hearts, an indescribable void and a quiet dissatisfaction.
As Christmas approaches, it’s interesting to think about the notion of this baby Jesus- born to save the world. Crucially, our creator came to dwell among His creation. Us.
Saving us, was no easy feat. Jesus knew the horrific price it was cost to save us from eternal death. But to Him, we were worth it. You are worth it.
What drove Jesus, what continues to drive Jesus, is love. The bible reminds us that ‘We love because he first loved us’. (John 4:19). Jesus' death and resurrection provided us with a choice to be in an eternal loving relationship, living out our true identity that he planned for us. It's there for us, if we want it.
The question is: Do we want it?
So, what better season to spend some valuable time reflecting on our godly desires? The holiday season is a great time to be intentional about getting up, close and personal with the One who Gorgeously Made you!
